The Indianapolis Colts and running back Jonathan Taylor have agreed on a two-year contract extension through the 2028 season. The deal is worth up to $44 million, a little less per season than the contract Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons recently reached.
The seventh-year player could become the Colts' all-time rushing yards leader this season. He has 7,598 rushing yards, 1,628 behind Edgerrin James. Taylor already owns the Colts' record with 69 rushing touchdowns, and he also has 7 receiving TDs.
Taylor's deal includes a $15 million signing bonus, with $39 million guaranteed, according to Spotrac. His 2026 salary cap is set at $15.5 million.

Reaction to Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor signing a contract extension
He deserves it. Dude has done nothing but ball his entire Colts tenure. Barring injury this guarantees Taylor becomes the Colts all-time rushing leader (possibly by the end of this season). https://t.co/V2MDXL7XFt

Jonathan Taylor gets paid, and the Colts keep the contract to two years for the aging running back who could potentially get moved next year if Ballard isn’t brought back.
Good move for both sides https://t.co/oO1R5kuNcN

When you put your team on your back, you deserve the bag! Love to see JT gonna break some all time Colts rushing records! https://t.co/DGLT1s4WdF

This is SUCH a good contract from Indy.
Taylor was in the MVP race before Daniel Jones got hurt and defenses sold out for the run.
Plus it's short term, and Taylor isn't going to just fall off in 2 years. https://t.co/df3i778Uyj

I hope it doesn’t come back to bite the Colts. Could wind up stuck with a bad contract like the Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott.
Good for JT. Rob the Irsay’s for all you can in their incompetence. #ForTheShoehttps://t.co/EU6135AZ9m

I don’t know man, it’s kind of wild to me that the best RB in football makes $19m per year and that’s a record high meanwhile Zay jones makes $35m and it’s nowhere near the record high for his position. This stuff is out of whack. https://t.co/uNPEMDFZq4
