How does Jonathan Taylor's contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts compare to the rest of the NFL's highest-paid running backs?

According to Ian Rapoport, Taylor's extension is for two years and is worth $44 million. It has a max value of $47 million and includes $39 million guaranteed.

Rapoport called this a "big-time" deal, noting that this is the largest third contract that a running back has ever received. In terms of career earnings, Taylor is one of the highest-paid running backs of all-time.

In new money, Taylor's deal averages out to $22 million per year, which puts him behind only Atlanta's Bijan Robinson in that category, according to Spotrac.

Taylor's $39 million in guaranteed money is the third-most among running backs. The $44 million in total that Taylor is set to earn ranks seventh.

These figures do not include the one year that Taylor still has left on his previous contract. If that is taken into account, he will earn a total value of $60 million over three years, according to Rapoport.

Taylor originally had one year left on his contract before this extension. He is now under contract with the Colts through the 2028 season.
