The Arizona Cardinals are closing in on what will be their worst season in Arizona. At 3-13, if they lose on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, they will have their first 14-loss season in franchise history. Such a year when there were potential postseason expectations would often get a head coach fired.
However, head coach Jonathan Gannon sounds like a man who is confident that he is going to be around in 2026.
On Monday, when speaking with reporters, he was asked if he expects to be where he was addressing them again next week. He responded affirmatively.
Why? “I have confidence in myself,” he said.
He indicated that he has regular conversations with owner Michael Bidwill. While he would not reveal much about the things he has been told, "I feel good."
He reiterated that in his radio interview on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, saying he "absolutely" expects to be the head coach beyond this season.
Should he remain as head coach? That's a different conversation, and if he remains in place next week, then it is one we can debate.
