What a great play, but man did he get lucky that he held on to that ball. I re-watched the play and he never knew Williams was even behind him. Williams got close on stripping the ball. Glad he held that ball tight enough that it stuck to his body. That would have been a heart breaker there.

Ha ha, this is even crazy. Just fell into his arms and he was still looking up. Awesome!

Yeah a fumble would have been a kick in the gut! But a good job to keep possession on it by John Brown. The second pic shows JB with his elbows together, which Michael Irvin said is how you catch balls like that.

Some were saying it looked like he slowed down at the end. If so he should never do that again after being caught at the endzone.

I was listening to Philly sports talk radio yesterday on my way to work and they were talking about where the Eagles DB's were vulnerable were over the shoulder catches because for some reason they rarely turn back for the ball. I saw this work several times yesterday so it seems as though the Cardinal scouts saw this as well. It worked brilliantly on that winning catch and run.

I've watched that play a hundred times and Brown's endzone dance never ceases to crack me up. He's like a little kid. I love this guy.

Watched his end zone dance 20 times and laughed harder each time.

A lesson to be learned Smokey! NEVER slow down and always change your direction ever so slightly. NOBODY should be able to catch you from behind.

Lesson learned without a catastrophe.

I'm sure the wr corp will be giving him some grief!

Smokey is still raw as hell and still making as huge impact. He could be poor man's Antonio Brown in 2-3 years for all we know.

It's not luck. Luck is Rob Housler catching anything. Smokey has proven he can run routes and catch. That's a difficult catch. Really difficult. Nothing lucky about it.

In the NFL you don't get just lucky on that catch to win the game. It's a pro move and he showed pro technique to score.

I agree, the only thing that any of the Eagles fans were saying about our win was that we got lucky. It wasn't luck. It wasn't luck when Palmer saw the right coverage, it wasn't luck when the o-line gave him time to chuck it up deep, it wasn't luck when Palmer threw a great pass. It wasn't luck when the safety bit underneath (just a bad mistake), it wasn't luck when that pass went right to where it was supposed to go, and it wasn't luck when Brown got to the spot he needed to be at to have the ball fall into his arms. That was just a well executed play and a bad read by a defensive player. Perfect playcall, perfect time.

I think if the defenders never made the mistake and were on him, he still would have made that catch. I don't know if he would have had a TD, but that throw and Brown were right where they needed to be.

Agreed. It was a great route by brown too, he made the move inside like he was going to run a post and then just exploded up the field. Not many safeties in the league are covering smokey on that route, he hit the afterburners on that one.

Best part about this play to me is that we have someone in the flat wide open for the first down if Carson looks up and sees the call to brown isn't going to work. Ok maybe that's the second best part.

It was a mismatch against the safety to start and the no safety can turn the wrong direction on him and make it up.
