Jesse Love will replace Josh Berry for the 2027 NASCAR Cup season, driving for Wood Brothers Racing, the team announced on June 17.
Love, 21, was the 2025 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series champion. He is second in the 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly championship standings.
Love has run two Cup races in 2026 for Richard Childress Racing at Circuit of the Americas and Talladega, finishing 27th at both tracks. His best Cup finish was 24th at the 2025 Brickyard 400.
In 2023, Love won 10 of 20 ARCA races and the championship.
Berry, a Hendersonville, Tennessee native, took over the No. 21 Ford Mustang for Wood Brothers in 2025 after moving over from the now-defunct Stewart-Haas Racing.
“Driving the No. 21 for Wood Brothers Racing is truly an honor,” Love said in a release. “This team has played such an important role in NASCAR history, and the drivers who have sat behind the wheel of this car are some of the greatest our sport has ever seen. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone at Wood Brothers Racing, Team Penske and Ford Racing for believing in me.”
Founded in the 1950s, the Wood Brothers are among the oldest race teams in NASCAR. The team has recorded 101 wins.
“Jesse has accomplished a lot at a young age,” said Wood Brothers Racing president Jon Wood. “He’s demonstrated the ability to win races, compete for championships and handle the expectations that come with racing at a high level. We’re looking forward to giving him the opportunity to take the next step in his career with the No. 21 team.”
Berry announced on June 10 that he would not return to Wood Brothers Racing after the end of the 2026 Cup season.
Berry's best finishes in 2026 have been ninth at the Daytona 500, 10th at Martinsville and 15th at Michigan. He has only five finishes in the top-20.
