I have no problem with Mauigoa as a player. It's that he's a RT and he's not as highly rated as Reese, Bailey, Love, Downs, or even Styles. Those guys all play positions that need upgraded on the Cards as well and are better players. To me, at 3, you want the best player and if you're taking a RT at 3, he better be the Joe Thomas/Anthony Munoz of RT's.
Ideally, yes, but you don't have a Joe Thomas in this draft. You aren't drafting for this year's draft, not past drafts.

Better players...at mostly less impactful positions. Teams have essentially demonstrated how important they think RT is based on how much they pay them vs. those other positions.
If you list the most impactful positions, RT and interior OL are at/near the bottom of the list because there are so many available that can do the job.
All tackles (RT and LT) are above ILB, RB, S. Interior OL I will agree with for sure. And I disagree there are a lot of people who can do the job, the offensive tackle position is one of the harder positions to find good players at.
Mauigoa is a nice prospect but to pass on a possible game effecting edge rusher for a very good RT is a very Lossenfort thing to do. And I said the same thing about PJJ at 6 when it was talked about him staying at RT.
Agree here, but that one guy is David Bailey. Paris Johnson was in a much better, but still not great draft, so I agree that a RT at 6 in his draft would have been an extremely poor use of resources. The best LT in this draft is routinely being mocked in the mid teens.

Ultimately, I want Bailey, but if he's gone, then I'm arguing with myself on whether I want the foundational player (Mauigoa) or the potential homerun player (Love). Downs won't be worth the pick (extremely rare that a safety is even worth a mid first round pick), Reese is incredibly risky, and Styles is an ILB.

Watch the Cardinals take Bain and piss off most of the board.

Nobody knows who the Cards guy is especially a so called draft guru. Cards keeping everything close to their vest. We really won't know until they are on the clock and their draft pick is in and announced. But we can all have fun guessing.

(1) I'll use all routes to gather information---even as AI makes the move to dominate the World.
(2) I even read what you post. That's how open-minded I am.
To point one, AI is notoriously wrong. Constantly. So, unless you're literally fact checking everything, I back what every poster on this board says over AI.
To point two, thanks for the dart. Point of pride for me, to have strong enough opinions that folks even care to throw darts :)

Sometimes a given player available in the draft is more than one guy at one position. Think in terms of 'the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.' There is a synergy that arises when you get a key ingredient and put it in the recipe.

Consider the Card's offense. We have some pieces in place to take the O to the next level. Add JLove to the mix and our play action pass game moves up a notch. We got a vet QB who can actually play under center, stand in the pocket, go through the progression, take a hit, and deliver the ball. Add a dynamic RB like Love and that play action game moves up a notch. The D will have to give pause to see where the ball is going.

Our young receiver group will all benefit with Love on the field. Put him in the pass pattern and he becomes a mismatch for the slot CB, the ILB, and even some CBs. Teams will have to scheme to stop him---which frees up the other skill position players.

Love will elevate our O more than any other player. Teams can bypass a superior RT by attacking weaker links in the OL. PJJ had some decent numbers last year (see the tally I posted above)---but what will happen if he consistently gets paired with the other team's best pass rusher (that assumes that our new RT is a superior player to PJJ).

Positional value should not be the only consideration---which player can you plug into the roster that has the ability to elevate an entire unit? On our O, that one guy would be Love.

Agree that at this stage in the evolution of AI, it is often wrong and wacky. But so are those posting opinions here. You state 'what every poster on the board says over AI.' How do you even know what EVERY poster says about AI? That is as wacky as anything that AI comes up with. Did you use AI for that tally? I don't recall you asking me what I think of AI.

I am on this board and have investigated the AI search engines and have found leads on plenty of issues. And, regardless of where I see the stats, I do double-check. Note that AI is starting to attach the sources. Also note that no one posted contradictory evidence on the ranking of PJJ over what AI provided. Did you discover anything to challenge the AI comment? I'm open to all sources and opinions. This new technology is no different than any other that has come down the line. Best to jump in and try and understand it and see what it has to offer.

Also, throw darts at balloons that are full of hot air. They are the easiest to break.

I actually agree with all of this to an extent. This is the ideal, but what happens when other threats are hurt and the OL which isn't good to begin with, gets banged up?

Mauigoa makes sense because he can help shore up the right side, making runs to that side more effective. If he can even add .2 seconds more time in pass sets than Wilkerson, it's a noticeable improvement over the length of a season.

We already saw what happens. Three wins and a coaching staff getting pink slips. It is the story of our 2025 season. No player is going to have that much mojo to overcome all our other threats getting hurt and the OL in the MASH tent.

About the closest thing to that was the importance of CM with the Whiners. They had injuries across the offense and CM still had enough to keep them in the hunt.

Here is the reality.

Love would be an upgrade at RB
Mauigoa would be an upgrade at RT
Bailey and Reese and Bain would be an upgrade over Browning and Collins
Styles would be an upgrade over Simon.

Basically, all of the players are going to upgrade the team...because that is where the Cardinals are in terms of talent.

The Jets and trade offers are big factors here.

we passed up on probably the guy just voted 2nd best defensive player IN THE LEAGUE... for what amounts to the 20th best OT tackle... and a DT ranked amongst the worst in the league.

Ugh.

Man that's just a category. The category below boom or bust is "Will become good starter within two years"

@Chopper0080 point stands, Zierlein, who is highly regarded in the scouting community, rates Mauigoa close to Joe Alt. People's view of Mauigoa is being tainted by the common "might be a guard" statement. If you read further, scouts clearly say he has enough lateral agility to handle the edge. He has good, not great lateral agility which is why he will never be a LT.

What is special about Mauigoa is that he is extremely strong and has great hands. When he gets locked into a rusher, they aren't going anywhere. And he's shown the ability to combo block fairly regularly. He's a really good player, and barring unforeseen circumstances (injury, off field, etc), he is going to at least be a good player in the NFL. Maybe not a star, but his floor is extremely high.
This is faulty reasoning. He ranks mauigoa close to alt when alt was a prospect. Not the alt we know today. He’s not saying mauigoa is alt.

Based on how it’s played out, while not picking Anderson, stings but could have lived with it all if the Robinson picked actually panned out or we drafted someone else who actually contributes. With DR being a wasted pick makes the overall trade pretty bad. This team has one top 100 player. We need top end talent, not a bunch of second level players

LOL And Alt was highly rated!!! My comment is 100% about both players as prospects.

Its destroying the argument that Mauigoa isn't rated well enough to take at #3, because Alt was taken in a similar spot in a much higher rated draft to play RT as well
