The Boston Celtics beat the Orlando Magic in Game 4 to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Following a heartbreaking loss in Game 3, the Celtics regrouped and showed themselves as the road warriors they've been all season. Jayson Tatum led the way.
Tatum scored 37 points while also getting 14 rebounds and three steals on the night. To go with that, he shot an inefficient 10-for-25 from the field, but managed to hit all 14 free throws he took.
Tatum didn't win the game single-handedly for the Celtics, but they wouldn't have done it without him. While Tatum put up a dominant stat line, he also made history in the process.

While Tatum's 37 points are impressive enough, it was also the second consecutive playoff game he had scored 35 or more points and shot 12 or more free throws without missing. These two elements made Tatum accomplish something no NBA player has done before.
"Jayson Tatum is the first player in NBA playoff history to record back-to-back games of 35+ points and 12+ free-throw attempts without a miss," the Celtics' official stats account wrote on X.
In Game 3, Tatum scored 36 points while hitting all 12 of his free throws. Tatum's free throw shooting in Game 4 was important in the Celtics' victory, as he made nine of his 14 free throws in the fourth quarter. Four of which were in the last minute.
Even though the Celtics won Game 2 without Tatum, stat lines like these show how important he is to their playoff success.
