The Boston Celtics grabbed a 107-98 win over the Orlando Magic on Sunday, taking a commanding 3-1 lead in their first-round series. Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 37 points, adding 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Jaylen Brown chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds, with Al Horford contributing a team-high five blocks in the physical contest.
Tatum entered the playoffs nursing a right-wrist bone bruise sustained in Game 1, an injury that forced him out of Game 2 for the first time in his eight-year career. He responded to the setback with a 36-point effort in Game 3’s narrow defeat, then followed up with Sunday’s dominant outing to keep Boston on the brink of advancing.

The series has been marked by hard fouls and heavy contact, drawing criticism from Tatum’s teammates. Late in the fourth quarter of Game 4, Tatum drove through traffic before being struck on both hands by a Magic defender, sending him to the hardwood and visibly grimacing as he clutched his injured wrist. Though he shook off the play to finish with a team-high scoring total, concern lingered over his condition.
Only after the final buzzer did Tatum offer a troubling update on his health and how serious his wrist injury is.
“I know what I’m dealing with. My team knows how serious it is,” he said. “But you know, it’s that time of the year. We all sacrificing our bodies.”
With Game 5 set for Tuesday night at TD Garden, the Celtics will lean on Tatum’s scoring and gritty leadership to close out the Magic and move one step closer to a fourth consecutive trip to the Eastern Conference semifinal.
