If anything has characterized the trade of star forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers by the Boston Celtics, it has been the radio silence observed by the team, its players, and even to an extent, Brown himself. The paucity of chatter coming from the involved parties has been palpable, with Brown and Tatum having said but a handful of words even after the deal was made official ahead of a press conference from Boston President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens and majority owner Bill Chisholm.
But on Tuesday night, speaking at an event to promote a popular children's book co-authored by Tatum, the St. Louis native spoke some more about the tectonic shift in the roster he plays on. "To be honest, weird. It’s weird," said Tatum via CelticsBlog's Noa Dalzell. "You play on a team with a guy for nine years."
"I was fortunate enough to go to the finals with him twice, and win a championship, and push each other to be the players that we are today," he continued.
"The NBA is an incredible business; it’s an incredible job, but there are some downsides to the business and moments like this, where you just kind of feel like you’re going to be on the team with somebody, because that’s all you know,," continued Tatum.
"It’s tough. But it just makes you appreciate the moments and time that we had," said the Duke alum. "Obviously, it came to an abrupt ending, but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t super successful. Great years, obviously, that he gave to the city and to the organization."
