One of the common themes for the Chicago Bears during a disappointing 2024 season was the lack of accountability.

Going through a season that saw a 10-game losing streak, two different head coaches and three different offensive coordinators , players were left wanting more accountability from the next coaching staff after Matt Eberflus and co. failed to instill it.

Enter new head coach Ben Johnson, and an experienced staff he's built around him, where one of the first things mentioned was establishing that accountability. Last season when Eberflus was head coach, there were players openly discussing their desire to be coached harder by offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, who was fired after just nine games into his first year with the team.

With Johnson and company leading the way, there has been a noticeable difference in the very beginning stages with the players on the roster.

With players back at Halas Hall for the start of the offseason program, players are already noticing a difference with this regime, although there's still a long way to go. Star cornerback Jaylon Johnson has already seen a real difference with the new coaching staff. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Johnson explained what he's looking for from the coaching staff when it comes to accountability.

"If you see it, call it out," Johnson said. "If it's not getting fixed, you got to do something."

Johnson's comments brings a new energy that's been missing for a few seasons, with accountability, professionalism, and maturity as the leading characteristics with this new staff. The real results will not come to the light until the 2025 season kicks off in the fall, but the first initial meeting with players and coaches seems to be off to a hot start, and after a busy and positive offseason, morale continues to be trending upward.
