Jaylen Brown Had Harsh Words For Joel Embiid On Livestream After Celtics Loss originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Celtics were eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, and Jaylen Brown had harsh words for Joel Embiid on a livestream.
Embiid scored 34 points, leading the way for the 76ers. He led all players in scoring, but also led all players in free throws in Game 7. Embiid called Embiid out for flopping.
“Flopping has ruined our league," Brown said on the livestream on Sunday. "Joel Embiid is a great player. One of the best bigs in (explative) basketball history, but he flops. He knows it. This isn't breaking news.”
The reality is, flopping has become a problem in the NBA, but there is nothing players can do about it. Some players are better at taking advantage of the whistle than others, and Embiid is one of those players. The Celtics could not stop him in Game 7, and he ended up playing a key role in eliminating them.
Brown made comments about Embiid flopping right after the game as well, in his postgame press conference.
“We didn't really have the answers for him," Brown told reporters after the game. "We tried a bunch of different things. He's a big body. He also was flopping around. He got some extra calls and stuff like that, and they rewarded him for that, but that's the league we’re in.”
Brown and the Celtics will now have to wait until next season to avenge their first-round exit.
