Jaylen Brown blasts Embiid’s playing style after 76ers complete 3-1 comeback. originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Boston Celtics had never blown a 3-1 series lead in 80 seasons of franchise history. Saturday at TD Garden, they did it, losing 109-100 to the Philadelphia 76ers in a Game 7 without Jayson Tatum, who was ruled out with left knee stiffness hours before tip-off.

Jaylen Brown put up 33 points and nine rebounds carrying the load alone. It wasn't close enough. Joel Embiid finished with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, and when the game ended, Brown had something to say.

Brown gave credit where he had to, then added something more

"Embiid put a lot of pressure on us," Brown said after the game. "We tried a bunch of different things. He's a big body. He also was flopping around. He got some extra calls and stuff like that, and they rewarded him for that. But that's the league we're in."

Jaylen Brown on Joel Embiid:

“We didn’t really have an answer for him…He's a big body. He also was flopping around. He got some extra calls and stuff like that, and they rewarded him for that. But that's the league that we're in.”

Embiid went 9-for-11 from the free-throw line in Game 7. His 11 attempts led everyone in the building. All three fouls Brown committed personally came in the fourth quarter.

It is worth noting that the Celtics finished the regular season getting to the foul line less than any other team in the NBA, so a free-throw gap was not a surprise waiting to happen.

Brown was also whistled for 10 offensive fouls in the first six games of the series, mostly for using his off-arm to create space as a driver. He wasn't speaking from completely neutral ground, looking at it.
