NFL analytics expert Warren Sharp has been outspoken about how the Washington Commanders haven't done enough on offense to help quarterback Jayden Daniels. Yes, it's true that as a rookie, Daniels led Washington to a 12-5 record and an appearance in the NFC Championship Game.

Here's an X post from Sharp on July 30 asking readers to compare what the New England Patriots have done to surround quarterback Drake Maye, compared to what the Commanders have or haven't done for Daniels.

He wasn't wrong. General manager Adam Peters does deserve credit for his offseason defensive makeover and last season's improvements at offensive tackle, but it was inexcusable that the Commanders didn't come away with another proven receiving option opposite Terry McLaurin.

Washington did improve Daniels' offensive weapons this offseason, signing tight end Chig Okonkwo, running back Rachaad White, wide receivers Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson, and using a third-round pick on Clemson wideout Antonio Williams. Those receiver moves were smart additions and give Washington much more depth than it had there a year ago; however, the Commanders still didn't land a proven, viable No. 2 receiver.

Until Wednesday. The Commanders agreed to terms with four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The move was unanimously praised across the NFL. Sharp couldn't contain his excitement for what this means for Washington's offense as a whole, but specifically, Daniels.

Stefon Diggs to DC

his 2025 season:

#1 EPA/target (+0.68)
#2 success rate (66%)
#6 yards/target (9.9)

the consistency was MASSIVE:

#1 catch rate (83%)
#1 accurate target catch rate (89%)
#1 lowest WR error rate (2%)

and only 2 drops all season!

Diggs hasn't received enough praise for how good he was for the Patriots last season. If he can replicate anything close to his 2025 performance, Washington will be in the postseason.

Sharp wasn't done, posting the following video, comparing Washington's receiver production last year to Diggs. He called this a 'perfect pairing' with Daniels.

I love the pairing of Stefon Diggs with Jayden Daniels

last year Commanders WRs:

#5 highest WR error rate
#4 highest WR error in the slot
#2 highest WR error between the #s

Diggs last year:

#1 highest catch rate
#5 highest slot target %
#1 EPA between the #s

perfect match https://t.co/mcsDdgvkm4pic.twitter.com/5JeAXxnof8

Considering what the Commanders needed, Diggs was indeed the "perfect" addition.
