Boston Red Sox fans may not have seen the last of Alex Cora.
On Tuesday's episode of the "Baseball Is Dead" podcast, Red Sox podcast host Jared Carrabis speculated that Cora may reunite with Boston down the road.
"I don’t feel like it’s a 0% chance that he never works for the organization again," Carrabis said. "They’re playing footsie under the table right now it feels like… I don’t see a for-sale sign on the house in Boston either."
Cora has not taken another baseball job since being fired by the Red Sox in late April, turning down an opportunity to manage the Philadelphia Phillies in order to spend more time with his family.
Boston, which was 10-17 at the time of Cora's dismissal, has continued to struggle in his absence, going 27-29 under interim manager Chad Tracy.
Cora has expressed interest in working in a front office role someday, so perhaps he'll rejoin the Red Sox in that type of capacity. It also helps that the two sides appear to be on fairly good terms.
The organization has already rehired Cora once before following his 2020 suspension, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him return someday, especially if he remains in the Boston area.
