i think/hope ish has learned some invaluable lessons - lessons only a billionaire could afford - but i really like how he moved up for fleming after maluach fell in his lap - the williams trade looks good - folks are excited about the summer league - idk - but i like the way he's rebounded

We've been too small, too weak, too slow, for too long. Roster has been a revolving door. Why was it not more balanced? Not more stable? Is that on the GM or on the coach? Was it just after Ish took over? I think Jones was too focused on skilled veterans. Not sure why they did not see this issue and dealt with it. Sure looks like Gregory did right away!

I think this is often the weakness of former NBA players in GM positions. They tend to look at things from a veteran player's perspective. They overvalue past performance and experience and undervalue youth and physical attributes.

James Jones will forever be tied to the KD trade and the Beal trade. Plus some of this drafts were horrid. I am fine with moving on from him. Isbia may have pushed the KD trade over the top but James Jones had a trade in mind for KD BEFORE Ishbia.

Absolutely. People seem to be forgetting that. It was well documented that Jones was hell bent on bringing in Durant, and I seriously doubt that the trade A) wouldn't have still gone through, and B) would have been scarcely any different, whether Ishbia had bought the team or not.

And really, the worst part of the trade was giving away all of those future draft picks, another idea which Jones very likely endorsed or encouraged, given his disdain for drafts and rookies.

Durant requested a trade to Phoenix during the 2022 offseason. It just so happened that the deal went thru hours within Ishbia taking over. Pretty clearly Ishbia wanted to make a big splash. Wojnarowski reported Ishbia dealt directly with the Nets owner while James Jones was pursuing a different trade for John Collins.

This was and still is all blatantly obvious.

Not for me, he won't. No question in my mind that Ishbia was the one pulling the strings for these. Sure, Jones wanted KD. Who wouldn't? But not at THAT price!

The way I look at it, James Jones gets credit for the good and the bad.

However, not drafting Halliburton in the 2020 draft and the moves he made at the 2023 NBA trade deadline and that summer were a disaster.
Passing on Halliburton was a mistake for sure I felt that way before he went to the finals
