For the first time in decades, the Atlanta Falcons had a legitimate pass rush last season with rookies Jalon Walker and James Pearce both showing promise on the edge. Fast forward to 2026, and the Falcons could be without both players for an extended period of time.
With key players already going down with injuries across the league, the Falcons were the latest victim on Tuesday. According to reporters at Falcons training camp, Walker went down with an apparent knee injury, and trainers immediately signaled for the cart.
The injury was so serious that the Falcons ended Tuesday's practice right there after Walker left on a cart.
Judging from the concern amongst the players and staff, fans justifiably feared the worst for the 2025 first-round pick. And early reports are pointing to a season-ending torn ACL.
Walker will have an MRI to confirm the injury, but torn ACLs are rarely misdiagnosed after a physical exam. Once confirmed, Walker would need surgery and miss the entire 2026 season.
Given that Pearce has a likely suspension looming from his domestic violence arrest, the Walker injury was the last thing that defense needed.

Cart has come onto the field for Jalon Walker. Whole team on a knee.
Falcons were going through two minute simulation and Walker was down in the backfield once the play was over.

What's the latest on Walker's injury?

#Falcons promising edge Jalon Walker is feared to have torn his ACL, per me and @wyche89, a potential brutal injury for this defense.
Walker will have an MRI to confirm the injury from practice today, which drew an emotional reaction from his team. pic.twitter.com/Io6ldOVVeu
