PHILADELPHIA —Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is clearly a fan of one of his new wide receivers.
When asked about Dontayvion Wicks, the former Packers receiver who is turning heads in training camp, Hurts had nothing but positive things to say.
“He’s got great work ethic. He’s got great hunger,” Hurts said Wednesday at the Jefferson Health Training Complex. “In the summertime, he was beating down the door, trying to spend that time and just work. He’s twitchy. He can attack the ball.”
Then, Hurts cracked a smile.
“You learn a lot about the guys around you at this time in camp, when it’s humid, it’s sticky, it’s hot,” Hurts said. “You see who’s got that anger to them, who’s got a little bit of rage in them, for the best. He’s got it.
“That’s exciting to see. He runs great routes. It’ll be exciting to see him work this season with the aggression that he has.”

We have seen Wicks get chippy throughout training camp. We’ve also seen him make spectacular plays.
Just last week, Wicks went up for a one-handed, acrobatic grab downfield over two defenders that drew quite the reaction from Hurts.
Wicks was a key piece of the offseason, one that saw the Eagles reshape their receiver room after A.J. Brown’s exit.
Howie Roseman made an investment when he acquired Wicks back in April. The Eagles sent a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Green Bay in exchange for the 25-year-old receiver.
The Eagles also signed Wicks to a contract extension worth $12.5 million, keeping him through the 2027 season.
Wicks was projected as the probable WR3 after the Eagles drafted Makai Lemon in the first round of the NFL draft. But with Lemon (and DeVonta Smith) sidelined with hamstring injuries, Wicks has stepped up in a big way in camp.
Judging from his comments on Wednesday, Hurts is expecting that to carry over into the season.
