The good news is that Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence cut down on his double bogeys in the final round of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament on July 12 at the Edgewood Tahoe South Golf Club in Stateline, Nev.
But unlike the second round, when he finished with five pars in a row, Lawrence got on the bogey train after a promising start and couldn't get off.
Lawrence had a net four points for the day under the Stableford scoring system (six points for eagles, three for birdies, one for pars, zero for bogeys and minus-two for double-bogeys or worse) with his sixth par of the day at No. 11, but then doubled two of his next three holes and finished with four bogeys in a row for an 87 and a points score of net zero.
Lawrence, who shot 87, finished at net zero for 54 holes and was tied for 48th with Jay Bilis. However, Lawrence improved from last year, when he tied for 75th.
Lawrence also routed playing partners, Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield (minus-13 points on a 95) and Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell (minus-8 points on a 92, minus-44 total). Mayfield was in a tie for 77th when he finished and O'Connell in 82nd place.
Lawrence had two birdies in the first round and didn't make another the rest of the tournament. But he had only three double bogeys in the final round, after five in the second round and four in the first.
Raines graduate Vince Coleman, the last Major League Baseball player to steal 100 bases in a season, had an early birdie, then weathered two doubles and shot 82 for plus-7 points and a 54-hole total of plus-28. He finished alone in 18th.
Former tennis player Mardy Fish won his second American Century title by six points over 2025 champion Joe Pavelski. Fish had 20 points on the day and finished with 72 overall, to Pavelski's 66. Steph Curry (59) was third and Annika Sorenstam (58) was fourth.
