Life is like a pack of trading cards ... you never know what you're going to get.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is having some fun with a comparison bestowed upon him by manager Pat Murphy following Misiorowski's historic outing against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, June 12.

Murphy compared Misiorwoski to the character Forrest Gump after he delivered a sensational complete-game one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts. Gump, portrayed by Tom Hanks in the eponymous 1994 film that won the Academy Award for Best Picture, hit theaters roughly eight years before Misiorowski was born.

On Saturday, June 13, Misiorowski had some fun with it, posting to his Instagram story a visual of Gump sitting on his iconic park bench, with Misiorwoski's head perched atop the character.

“Amazing young man, he really is. Forrest Gump-like,” Murphy said. “Amazingly real, naive to a lot of things, and it’s beautiful.”

In the movie, Gump recounts tales of his incredible life story to strangers, including vignettes that feature college football, shrimp fishing, a really long walk and the Vietnam War.

It's a one-of-a-kind story, and Misiorowski is becoming a one-of-a-kind pitcher, just one year into his big league career.

With his youthful celebrations and deep affinity for all things Pokémon (and other trading cards), he may not neatly fit the prototype, but he sure does make for an incredible story.
