The Kentucky Football team got some bad news and some potentially good news on Tuesday.
On the positive side, class of 2027 wide receiver target Tyler Fryman decommitted from Louisville, where he was committed to play baseball. But following an official visit to Kentucky over the weekend, the Cats could gain a commitment from the 4-star recruit to play football.
On the downside, fellow 4-star wide receiver Iveon Lewis flipped his commitment from Kentucky to South Carolina, so the Cats lost one of their top recruits in the 2027 class.
Lewis, ranked as high as 238th overall at Rivals, was widely viewed as Kentucky’s second-biggest recruiting win in the 2027 class behind only quarterback Jake Nawrot. However, there’s a chance Kentucky ends up with a bigger fish when it’s all said and done.
That’s because Fryman is currently ranked 152nd overall in the 2027 class and second overall in the state of Kentucky. The Beechwood standout could be the best receiver prospect to come out of the Bluegrass since Dane Key.
Will Kentucky get this one across the finish line to offset the loss of Lewis? We likely won’t have to wait long to find out…
After much prayer and consideration with my family, I am announcing my decommitment from the University of Louisville. Thank you to the coaching staff and I’m grateful for the relationships that were built through the process.
