I went and took a small cat-nap after the draft, and now things don't look so bad.

I was very critical of the 2 first round picks. I think they reached for both guys, but post-draft articles seem to indicate we didn't do so poorly there.

It appears Pace was on the rise. I guess I didn't like the pick, because I had never heard of him before. I admit that is a stupid reason, not to like the kid. Just because I hadn't heard of him before doesn't mean he couldn't be a good player. I just think we still could have gotten him in a later round - but maybe not. I guess some other teams had him ranked where we did. Only time will tell.

However, I think the 2nd and 3rd round picks slavaged the day, for me personaly. I really like the Boldin pick, and the Hayes pick. We got a good, tough slot receiver, and Ronnie Macs understudy. Not a bad couple of pickups, IMO.

To me, (as I know some other's have stated) it looks like we actually drafted backwards. I think we got a potential 1st round talent in Boldin, and a solid 2nd round / 3rd round guy in Johnson and Pace. Then, Hayes would be a great 2nd rounder. So we got the picks right, just in the wrong rounds/order.

My only concern there is that we are going to be paying these guys in reverse order as well. Johnson/Pace get 1st round money, and Boldin Gets "2" money, Hayes "3" money....How that will impact the cap down the road will be curious.

With some hind-site, I don't feel as bad as I did after the first round. Hopefully we will have a good 2nd day. Some drafts are made/broken on day 2 picks.... We shall see.

Like I have said before, it takes alot of nutz to take a guy that they KNOW will shock everyone. Because they know they will be ripped to shreds...

But the reason they make a move like that is because they SAW somthing they wanted and they went and got it, Reach or no reach! (Even if they wanted McDougle :) )

I am very excited about the draft sofar!

There is no point to over analize who we could of got and where... That is all hind sight, time to get excited about our new players!

Or it tells you about the guy pulling the trigger in the War Room? Considering our past draft history I have little faith in the Cards braintrust and scouting dept. Maybe the guy was an unknown because he deserved to be an unknown?

It is hard to be excited. Being excited means you have at least faith in the future. With the decision Graves has made so far does not instill faith in what he is doing. I hope these guys workout but they are a bigger risk than taking Suggs or Williams at 6. The Cards were forced to make these decisions because Graves decision to make the trade. He is soley responsible.

Hindsight is valuable. Do not discount it. How else can you evaluate or judge your progress??

Also, this means nothing. All it tells me is that you are willing to take risks. The increased level of Risk does not communicate wisdom. It communicates to me the opposite.
