The Boston Red Sox made significant coaching changes earlier this offseason, as manager Alex Cora was fired, among other assistants.

One of the coaches that was fired was hitting coach Pete Fatse, who was replaced by John Soteropulos, and veteran infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa had plenty of praise for the new hitting coaches.

"The new hitting coaches have been doing a great job with trying to elevate the ball to left field,” Kiner-Falefa said. “To get some results is just showing that all the work I’ve been putting in is working. They understand where I’m at in my career and I’m giving them the full leeway to help me develop. That’s the reason I signed here, to be developed as a hitter.”

On Tuesday, Kiner-Falefa showed the improvements as he hit a home run, and finished the game going 2-for-3 and a walk, with a homer and three RBIs.

Although Kiner-Falefa had a stellar game, the Red Sox still lost the game 7-6. Despite Boston being 22-31, the Red Sox are four games back of a Wild Card so Kiner-Falefa knows the team is lucky to be in the AL to still be in a playoff spot.

“We’re lucky to be in the American League and we’ve just got to keep going,” Kiner-Falefa said. “Hopefully, we string some together and other teams lose. We’re honestly just lucky to be in the American League.”

The Red Sox will play the second game of a three-game series at Fenway Park on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. ET.
