It all comes down to this for the young Toronto Raptors.
Win Game 7 on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night, and Toronto will officially have its first NBA playoff series victory since the 2022 postseason. Talk about a real coming-out party for two-way franchise cornerstone Scottie Barnes and friends. The good news here is that the tough-nosed, defensively centered Raptors, as it stands, seem more than capable of stealing one in Cleveland (even though they obviously haven't done so yet).
The bad news is that Toronto will likely not have its full complement of offensive weapons to overcome a team led by Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. Per Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports, usual Raptors starting shooting guard Brandon Ingram was seen with a walking boot on an injured heel during Sunday morning's shootaround. To no surprise, when you see news like this, Ingram is listed as doubtful for the Game 7 matchup. Woof:
Once again, the Raptors' defense-and-effort style of play may well give them a chance to pull off the upset over the Cavaliers. That's just what happens in the playoffs sometimes. But there's no denying they would love to have a 21-point-per-game scorer like Ingram available in a clutch, tense Game 7 situation. When in doubt, elite shotmaking can overcome great defense, after all.
We'll see how the Raptors fare in Sunday evening's Game 7 to cap the first round of the 2026 NBA playoffs.
