The playoff picture is sharpening rapidly in IPL 2026, and Sunday's contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium carries genuine weight for both sides. Delhi Capitals need wins from here to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Rajasthan Royals are firmly in the conversation, but equally aware that one bad result could tilt the equation badly against them.
Delhi arrive on the back of a character-revealing performance. Chasing 211 against Punjab Kings today, they looked wobbly early with KL Rahul falling cheaply in the second over, but the middle order dug in and found a way. Axar Patel and David Miller combined for a vital stand, and Miller in particular found another gear at the death.
The bigger concern for DC remains Mitchell Starc. His return has not been the thunderbolt moment they would have hoped for. Delhi need to manage carefully against an RR top order that will take no prisoners.
On the other side, Rajasthan arrive carrying the bruises of a difficult fortnight. Two losses in their last two outings, with the bowling conceding in excess of 225 in both games. That is a pattern that demands attention.
Having said that, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi remains a philosophical question for the modern T20 fan, jaw-dropping again and again, and he arrives at a venue where DC's new-ball attack has been far from watertight.
The emergence of Donovan Ferreira as a reliable finisher has added a new dimension to Rajasthan's batting. His match-defining knocks in few games has revealed a lower-order gear capable of changing tight equations at will.
The Arun Jaitley pitch tends to offer something with the new ball early before flattening out completely, and both teams have the firepower to exploit those first six overs.
Delhi have momentum and a home crowd that rarely lets this venue go quiet. Under the lights at this stadium, that combination can count for more than the form guide suggests.
But Rajasthan are the side with the bigger names and the sharper top order. Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal against an attack still searching for its best rhythm is a mismatch that could settle this game early. Jofra Archer, bowling at the peak of his powers this season, gives Rajasthan a cutting edge with the new ball as well.
Delhi's middle order will fancy their chances in a chase, and if Rahul gets in alongside their middle order, they can make a contest of it. But Rajasthan have the firepower to post a total that puts this game beyond reach before Delhi's middle order even gets the chance to warm up.
Rajasthan Royals to win.

Arun Jaitley Stadium has been a batting paradise for most of this season, with runs flowing freely and bowlers offering little resistance. The last two games, however, have told a different story.
Scores of 155 and 142 batting first suggest the surface has slowed significantly, and what was once a ground bowlers dreaded may just have turned into a contest worth watching.

Rahul has looked increasingly fluent with every outing, and if there is one batter in this Delhi lineup built for a surface that demands patience and precision, it is him. A big knock feels overdue, and Kotla may just be where it arrives.

Riyan Parag missed the last match with a hamstring injury but is expected to return on Sunday, which would be a significant boost for Rajasthan's middle order. Delhi, meanwhile, have little reason to tinker after a convincing win and are likely to field an unchanged side.
