Pewaukee, in its first trip to the WIAA state softball tournament, is headed to the Division 2 championship game.
The fourth-seeded Pirates (21-9) knocked off top-seeded Medford, 1-0, in the semifinals Friday, June 12 at the Goodman Diamond on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
They'll face third-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran (25-3) in the championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 13.
Pewaukee scored its run in the sixth inning as Harper Gould had a hit to center with one out and, when the ball got past the Medford center fielder, Gould raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run. Gould had two hits and a walk, the only hits and walk the Pirates had in the game.
Medford had runners on first and second in the sixth inning and on first in the seventh, but Pirates pitcher Hailey Hutchens shut down the Raiders in both innings to secure the shutout win.
Hutchens allowed seven hits and four walks, striking out five, as Medford left 13 runners on base.
Here's the finals schedule for Saturday, June 13:
