The Maxx Crosby deal collapsed, but the Baltimore Ravens still landed a major piece for their defense. Edge rusher Trey Hendrickson agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract with Baltimore, ending his run with the Cincinnati Bengals and keeping him in the AFC North.
Hendrickson has been one of the most productive pass rushers in football when healthy, the kind of player who can change how offenses game plan. Baltimore needed that presence after losing out on Crosby, and they moved fast to get it.

Recent reports suggest that the Indianapolis Colts were in the mix too, and they had every reason to believe Hendrickson was theirs. Indianapolis desperately needed help getting after the quarterback, and Hendrickson checked every box.
For a moment, it looked like the Colts had their answer. Then everything shifted. The Colts went from thinking they had their guy to watching him sign elsewhere while other top options disappeared.
“Trey Hendrickson was going to sign with the Colts before the Ravens failed Maxx Crosby’s physical and pivoted to him, per Ian Rapoport. Now, Indianapolis must pivot themselves after being all-in on Hendrickson and missing out on the other top pass rushers in the process.” NFL reporter Evan Sidery shared.
Hendrickson spent his first four NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints before joining Cincinnati. Over the past six years, he’s posted double-digit sacks four times. He recorded 17.5 sacks in both 2023 and 2024, leading the entire NFL last season.
That performance earned him first-team All-Pro honors and put him second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

The Colts have kept things quiet during free agency so far. They’ve signed just one external free agent up to this point.
That addition was defensive lineman Arden Key, who’s expected to provide depth along the defensive front instead of starting.
