This quote is just too damn funny not to post. Excerpts from a Bernie Lincicome article in Denver.

A determined Plummer vowed: "It is the start of something. I am here to lead these guys." To which Lincicome countered: "The vision that comes to mind is the marching band in Animal House, led into a brick wall where it, still playing, piles upon itself."

That is one of most hilarious uses of feature film to detail Plummer's ineptness. I can't wait to see him on Monday in his first game against the Raiders - Oh man is that gonna be sweet. The Broncos will make the playoffs and they are just one player away from being serious Super Bowl Contenders - to bad they just signed the wrong guy to do it - when they fail miserably in the playoffs and it's a the feet of Plummer, that will be the ultimate condemnation of him - well - them missing the playoffs entirely would probably be better but that team is so stocked around him, that unfortunately I can see them squeaking in in spite of their QB.

not so fast on the playoffs for Denver IMO..I think they are looking at 4 losses just in their division (out of 6 games)..I think the chiefs are much better - and the raiders are slightly better than the broncos. So...they beat cincy and go 2 - 4 in the division - that is a 3 - 4 record with 9 other games...they need to get to 10 wins to get in playoffs..so they need to go 7 -2 in their other games. But..they may go 2 -0 - they play san diego this week.

Who are the other 9 games against? DETROIT, PITTSBURGH ,
Minnesota Baltimore NEW ENGLAND CHICAGO CLEVELAND Indianapolis Green Bay. Caps are home games..Not that tough of a schedule - but Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Indianapolis (in indy), Green Bay will not be easy...New England, Baltimore and cleveland are kind of unknowns right now - New england started off bad - I do not think cleveland and baltimore are that good. Heck..if they go 3 - 3 in their division, one win already, 6 - 3 against the above 9 teams with be tough for denver.

If the chiefs and raiders make the playoffs, in theory it will be hard for a 3rd team from the same conference to get in (but san diego is clearly the dormat).

last year the broncos missed the playoffs - even though KC was having a down year. Kansas City is way improved...raiders are off a little - but still better than denver. The broncos are better on defense - but they got worse at the all important qb position...

The Chiefs were my pre-saeson Super Bowl pick from the AFC. As for the Denver press,i read that idiot Paige defending PLummer because they beat the Bengals.I have to admit that i was a Plummer defender until the halfway through the 2001 season. It comes to a point when you ave to realize that the guy can't play. I can't believe how much time and space is dedicated to PLummer. I am guilty of it too.

Lincicome was a writer in Chicago for a looooong time. He is a great writer IMO and quite funny. It will be fun to read his thoughts as the season goes forward.

I live in KC and I was skeptical on the Chiefs but they do look good, time will tell but I think they have as much of a shot as anyone to get to the superbowl, however it would be interesting if they played the Bucs for the Superbowl I'd have to think they'd lose because that defense gives that offense fits.

The Rams barely escaped the Bucs when they won it all and I doubt the Chiefs would since Tampa now has a meager offense.

Other than facing Tampa I think they could very well win it all.
