I still think they're playoff pretenders, but hell... if you get in the playoffs, anything can happen.

Special teams suck. Offensive play calling sucks. Defense can't get off the field. 1-of-3 can be easily fixed, I guess.

Honestly, if this team can figure out the defense, they can make a run. The offense is deep, and lights out at times. If the defense can figure out a way to generate situational pressure, we can beat anyone in the NFL. The rest...meh...it can get figured out. Red zone offense was bound to regress. Special teams can be tweaked but is not a strength. We can run the ball enough to keep teams from cheating.
We aren't there yet in terms of execution, but have shown all the parts necessary. Bringing it all together is what it takes to make a serious push.

This was Baltimore's largest margin of defeat all season believe it or not. If you wanted a blowout, you weren't going to find it in this game. They have a championship coach, very good offense and a decent defense. This Baltimore team could easily be 4-3 or 5-2 with a couple of breaks
I don't know if there is anything for the Defense to figure out. I feel like our lack of talent at OLB is what is killing us. We don't have anybody to get home. Its ridiculous that we blitz on 42% of passing plays and only have 10 sacks this season. Good for 30th in the league or so. Have to say though Gunter, and Golden seem to be improving so hopefully we win this week. Get Okafor back after the bye, and they start putting something together. But I just don't see it yet.

a decent defense... in what way? They're ranked 29th in yards and 26th in points per game given up. They're 1-6... with losses at home to the Browns and a loss to an awful Niner team. They are what they are. Bad.

Baltimore is not a good team, but they've been competitive in every game they've played in evidenced by their -19 point differential with a 1-5 record. This includes games against unbeaten Denver and Cincinnati. It's an entirely different situation if they came in getting plastered by everyone and we just squeaked by. They've literally been down only one possession in every game they've played.
The game went according to the script and exactly as I had predicted--AZ would win but Baltimore would be in the game until the end.

I just don't think we'll run into rookie Matt Ryan, Jake Delhomme and Donovan McNabb this time.
I'm done giving that a pass. It must be fixed or it will kill us.

We also benefitted greatly by the screwiest playoff ever where a 4 seed ended up hosting the NFC title game.

If you listened to the callers in postgame you would swear that they were talking about the worst team in the NFL.
Hell, that game tonight would've fit right in with all those close games we had last season and people would've been glowing about the team's mental toughness and making the plays needed to win. This year? If we aren't winning by 30 points and excelling in all three parts of a team..... we suck and there is no hope we do anything great this year.

You're being too sensitive IMO
- Letting a guy go unblocked to Butler
- Butler casually taking 3 steps to punt when they bring the house
- Ellington running out of bounds
- Mind-boggling intentional grounding
- Blown coverage on long pass play
Those are five mistakes in the last 5 minutes alone...

I don't think I'm sensitive. And, I was there and agonized and cussed over every one of those mistakes. But there is a different tone in the talk about the team this year than............ well, ever really.

The Rams and Steelers game, we shot ourselves in the foot badly but still had a chance to win. In this game, I chalk it up to MNF isn't kind to us even though we're on a half assed 2-0 run but in both games we struggled to win.

We've become spoiled. We used to not care about how we won but IF we won (since it didn't happen that often). Now we care about every minute detail and are picking apart games where we win by double digits. Its an odd feeling that most people here don't know how to deal with.
Most of our mistakes are mental and correctable.
Are we a good team? Yes. Are we a great team? TBD

This in my opinion was one of the better called games by our defense. Except for the block punt which gave the Ravens a 1 yrd TD drive they basically shut the Ravens out in the second half. And also made the play when it counted to win it.
I personally am not bothered by the current play of the team. they are winning games and still need to work on/fix some things. I would rather as the season progresses see the team slowly but surely get these things squared away and be primed for a playoff run playing their best football at that time. Even if they drop a game every 4 outings their record would still be 12-4. I think that is enough to get in and win the division. Wouldn't everyone be happy with a 12-4 record?

I'm still not agreeing with #2. Everyone is blaming Butler because he's a bad punter but they said on air he got that kick off in 2.03 seconds and the goal is 2. I don't buy that getting it off .03 earlier was going to avoid the block. The guy came clean up the middle. Both of them did but Leach was smart enough to grab one and Rashad inexplicably blocked the same guy Leach was grabbing. That was a blocking issue.
About the only thing Butler could have done was just eat the ball and take the loss on downs so they don't get the block.
The 2 plays that infuriated me the most were Ellington running out of bounds and Bethel's blown coverage.
Ellington it was just plain not wanting to get hit that cost the team. With Bethel now we see why he doesn't play more, he completely blew that coverage, had no idea where the guy was he was so lucky he didn't score on that play.

They said on air that is the NORMAL time, but that when you see the rush, you have to hurry and get the ball out faster. So he was slower than normal to begin with, AND didn't have the heads up to hurry on top of it. He bears plenty of blame too.
This team is indeed frustrating. You're not going to be able to lean on talent alone while you play fundamentally poor football, when you aren't mentally strong, when you make bad coaching decisions, etc. We're a shoot ourselves in the foot kind of team right now, and that's not good. It's very concerning, and I'm thinking we have a hard time winning the division. I think we'll make the playoffs, but at this point, we should be aiming to get a bye. If this team can't manage to win the division and get a bye, I'll be hugely critical of BASK and company. With the way this team is set up, that should be the goal.

There were lots of us telling people it's too early to call the team elite when they were undefeated and that pretty much has proven itself to be true. The team is good IMO but not elite. There are times when this team looks flat out confused. The fact that we have only 2 losses is GREAT! If we keep that up we get into the playoffs.
Deep though? Jury is still out. I think it depends on when this team plateaus this season. We have seen it countless times. You want your team to peak going into the playoffs. If this team has not peaked anything can happen.
