The longtime professional rock climber, who was highlighted in the Oscar and Emmy-winning documentary Free Solo, will carry out a lifelong dream in undertaking the largest urban free solo climb January 24.

When does ‘Skyscraper Live’ with Alex Honnold start?
The event and livestream were originally planned to start at 5 p.m. PT on Friday, January 23, or 8 p.m. ET., but inclement weather brought the streamer to delay the event by a day. The same times apply to tomorrow, Saturday, January 24.

What building is Alex Honnold scaling?
Taipei 101 is a large skyscraper in the capital city of Taiwan, and the 101 stands for its 101 stories in height. That’s 1,667 feet or 508 meters tall. At the time of its completion and official opening in 2004, the building was the world’s tallest building. Construction begin on the mixed-use office building and retail center in 1999, with the building topping out in 2003.

Who is Alex Honnold?
Honnold, who has been a pro solo climber for 30 years, was the subject of Free Solo (2018), an Emmy and Oscar-winning documentary. He climbs without rope or protective equipment. He is also known for having a quiet amygdala, or fear center of the brain that interprets and responds to threats.
Who else is behind ‘Skyscraper Live’?
Netflix has assembled a team of commentators and experts with knowledge about climbing, the building and more to report on the vent. Veteran sports anchor Elle Duncan, who previously worked at ESPN, will host the event with commentary from professional climber Emily Harrington, former NASA engineer Mark Rober, WWE’s Seth Rollins and Pete Woods, a climbing commentator with more than 30 years of experience in the sport itself.
