The Los Angeles Sparks (6-6) look for a third straight victory when they visit the Phoenix Mercury (4-10), who have lost two in a row, at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix on Saturday night in a Commissioner’s Cup round-robin contest.

Phoenix never led on Thursday night in an 85-70 road loss to the Dallas Wings that dropped the Mercury to 2-3 in the Commissioner’s Cup Western Conference round robin. Lexi Held came off the bench for a team-high 17 points while Kahleah Copper scored 13. Alyssa Thomas put up 10 assists and nine rebounds while scoring six points as Phoenix shot just 39.1% on the night, while the Wings hit 52.1% of their attempts.
Nneka Ogwumike returned to Seattle for the first time since signing with the Sparks in April and scored 24 points to lead the Sparks to an 88-83 win on Wednesday night. Los Angeles never trailed after Chance Gray hit two free throws with 8:27 left. Kelsey Plum added 19 points, 11 assists, and four steals in the victory while Cameron Brink scored 15 points off the bench and Dearica Hamby yanked down 10 rebounds.
Los Angeles, which comes in with a 4-1 road record, won at Phoenix 97-88 on May 21. Plum averages 24.8 points and 6.9 assists for the Sparks, while Ogwumike gets 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Copper leads the Mercury with an average of 17.1 points, and Thomas puts up 14.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 7.2 boards per game.
