The Golden State Valkyries (19-8) face the Phoenix Mercury (10-18) at Mortgage Matchup Center in a regular-season WNBA matchup.

Golden State hit a great rhythm before the All-Star break, as they won three in a row, then continued after, adding six more wins to climb the WNBA standings. That nine-game streak was snapped their last time out, however, as the Valkyries took a surprising 90-82 home loss against the Washington Mystics. Golden State led by four heading to the final quarter, but they shot 42.9% compared to the Mystics’ 68.8%, leading to the loss.
Phoenix has been a streaky team as of late, with a three-game winning streak followed by a five-game losing streak, now turned into another win streak, this time two in a row. They are coming off of a solid 86-82 road win over the Los Angeles Sparks in which they took care of business down the stretch. Tied 60-60 to start the fourth quarter, Natasha Mack made a layup 18 seconds into the final frame, giving the Mercury a lead they would not relinquish.
