The New York Liberty (15-12) won their final two games before the All-Star break and visit the Los Angeles Sparks (10-16) to resume play on Tuesday night, with L.A. coming in with five consecutive losses.

New York’s up-and-down first half included winning the Commissioner’s Cup while also going through a stretch of eight losses in 10 games from June 19-July 18. Breanna Stewart averages 21.1 points, with Sabrina Ionescu putting up 14.8 points and 4.1 assists per game and All-Star Game MVP Jonquel Jones posting 14.8 points and 9.2 rebounds a night. The Liberty remain without Satou Sabally (concussion) and Leonie Fiebich (foot).
The Sparks, still awaiting the return of point guard Kelsey Plum from a lower-leg injury, get averages of 17.1 points and 9.1 rebounds from Nneka Ogwumike while Dearica Hamby scores 14.8 points per game and Erica Wheeler dishes 5.1 assists per outing. Plum hasn’t played since June 21, and Los Angeles hopes to get her back in early August.
Los Angeles won the first meeting between the teams, claiming a homecourt victory on June 21.
