The 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup draws to a close on Saturday. In the battle for third place, Finland is set to take on Slovakia at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Finland saw its shot at making it to the final end on Friday with a 6-3 loss to Canada. That came after the team finished second in Group B, winning twice against the Czech Republic and Germany but losing to the United States.
Slovakia fell 5-2 to Team USA on Friday. The team finished as the runners-up in Group A, posting one win, one loss and one overtime loss to squeak through to second place and a spot in the knockout round.
The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is an annual tournament for under-18 teams that is jointly organized by Canada, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It consists of eight teams. The United States is the defending champion, but Canada has historically dominated this event, winning gold 25 times. The next closest is Russia with five titles, followed by the United States with two.
