Former National League MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. could be back in the lineup for the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves (60-42) on Friday night as the club opens a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles (50-53) at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Atlanta closed out a four-game series victory over the San Diego Padres with a 6-5 win on Thursday. Chris Sale matched a season-high with 11 strikeouts over six innings while Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies, Dominic Smith and Drake Baldwin all homered. Acuña, out since June 9 with a strained left hamstring, went 0-for-2 with a walk in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday and slashed .251/.373/.421 with seven homers, 22 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 53 games before his injury.
The Orioles split a doubleheader with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Wednesday, dropping the opener 6-3 before stopping Boston’s 15-game winning streak with a 5-1 win in the nightcap. Christian Encarnacion-Strand homered for Baltimore in the first game while Kyle Bradish, fresh off signing a $90 million extension, allowed one run on four hits in six innings to get the win in the second game.
Left-hander Trevor Rogers (6-7) draws the start for Baltimore on Friday night, coming in with a 4.28 ERA and 1.303 WHIP in 18 starts and 96.2 innings. The Braves go with right-hander Grant Holmes (6-4), who enters with a 3.70 ERA and 1.343 WHIP in 19 appearances, 18 of them starts, and 92.1 innings of work.
