How new Bills safety Geno Stone cause stir with former team

The Buffalo Bills added safety Geno Smith during the earlier parts of the NFL's free agency period during the 2026 offseason.

Stone, 26, inked a one-year deal in Buffalo. He could have a chance to start for the Bills... and added he was motivated by some players of the past and possibilities in the future.

Stone said he knows former Bills safety and fellow ex Iowa Hawkeye Micah Hyde who convinced him... but it was his latter comments that got him in hot water with his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

After signing in Buffalo, Stone spoke via video conference and expressed his delight with the joining the Bills. In doing so, he called it a "winning culture" in Buffalo.

Cincinnati took that as a slight against the Bengals.

But was it?

Just to be safe, Stone went on to clarify his own comments with the Bengals and their fans via post on social media. He stated they had "nothing to do with the Bengals" and added he has "respect" for the organization in Cincinnati.
