Ole Miss baseball is playing in the College World Series once again.
The Rebels are making their seventh appearance in program history and the first since winning the national championship in 2022.
Ole Miss (41-21) will open CWS play against No. 5 seed North Carolina (50-12-1) on June 12 (6 p.m. CT, ESPN) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. They will take on Troy or No. 16 seed West Virginia next on June 14 depending whether they win or lose.
1956: The first time Ole Miss made the CWS was in 1956. It was also the first time Ole Miss appeared in the NCAA Tournament.
The Rebels won their first two games of the CWS over New Hampshire and Bradley, but then lost to Minnesota and later Arizona in the semifinals. The Golden Gophers and Wildcats finished as champions and runner-up, respectively.
1964: Ole Miss returned to Omaha in 1964, but their trip didn't last long. The Rebels lost back-to-back games to Southern Cal and Arizona State, ending their season.
1969: Ole Miss fared better than in 1964. Although Ole Miss lost its opener to NYU, the Rebels bounced back to beat Southern Illinois. However, they couldn't continue their winning ways and were bounced from the tournament by Texas.
1972: Ole Miss suffered losses to Southern Cal, the eventual champion, and Texas, forcing its elimination.
2014: It took Ole Miss 42 years to make it back to the CWS. The Rebels finally managed to do it in 2014.
Ole Miss started in the losers bracket after falling to No. 1 seed Virginia but stormed back to make the semifinals. The Rebels beat No. 7 Texas Tech and No. 2 TCU but came up short in their semifinal rematch against the Cavaliers, who finished as runner-up to Vanderbilt.
2022: Ole Miss won the College World Series for the first time in program history. The Rebels dominated throughout the tournament, outscoring opponents 36-14.
They defeated No. 7 seed Auburn in their opener before playing No. 3 seed Arkansas three straight times, winning the first and last matchup. The win in the third game against the Razorbacks secured Ole Miss' spot in the championship series.
Ole Miss swept No. 4 seed Oklahoma in the championship series to secure their first national title. Pitcher Hunter Elliott is the only current Ole Miss player who was a part of the 2022 team.
Ole Miss is 10-11 all-time in the CWS. The Rebels' appearances in 2014 and 2022 came under current coach Mike Bianco. The Rebels are 7-3 in Omaha with Bianco at the helm.
