Former LSU football safety Sage Ryan transferred to Ole Miss ahead of the 2025 season. He played in every game for the Rebels but experienced a dip in production in his fifth and final year of college football.
Ryan made eight starts this season. He finished with 23 tackles, including a sack against the Citadel, four pass deflections, and three pressures. His best game of the season came against Washington State when he made five tackles. In three games during the College Football Playoffs, he didn't record a tackle or pass deflection.
Per PFF, Ryan had a 60.8 defensive grade on the year. His tackling grade was poor at 49,5, meaning he missed on several opportunities to take down an opposing ball carrier. On 32 targets, he allowed 24 catches and made 12 stops.
The opponent passer rate against Ryan was 129.3, and he allowed four touchdowns. Neither is a great mark.
The best season of his career came in 2024 at LSU. He made nine starts, 42 tackles, including 4.5 for loss, five pass breakups and five pass deflections. Through 59 career games, he made 140 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, 18 pass deflections, 17 pass breakups five forced fumbles and one interception.
Ryan, who originally signed with LSU as a five-star in 2021, will now try his hand at the NFL.
