South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is celebrating the Philadelphia 76ers latest free agency move.
NBA superstar LeBron James announced on social media on July 24 that he'd be signing with the 76ers. Minutes later, Staley posted a video reacting to the news on X.
In the video after expressing her excitement, Staley, a Philadelphia native, offered her support to James, his wife Savannah and their daughter Zhuri.
"We got the king," Staley said. "Welcome to Philly, Bron. Let me know if you need any spots. Let me know if Zhuri needs any place to go to school. We know the entire school district. Savanna, we got you. Bron, good, great choice, my guy."
Staley has been a lifelong fan of her hometown 76ers. Over the years, she's been very vocal about her support of the team, even showing up to support the team in person during the regular season and playoffs.
After it was reported earlier this month that James would be on the move this offseason, Staley made a post on X encouraging him to sign with Philadelphia.
"Lawd…. @KingJames you about that Philly life?!! @sixers ," she wrote.
Staley wasted no time in sharing her reaction to the news, posting the video while at an event for WNBA All-Star weekend in Chicago. Three of Staley's former Gamecock players – A'ja Wilson, Allisha Gray and Aliyah Boston – are competing in the All-Star game on July 25 (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
