My former employer was recently bought by Xerox and I have a bunch of money sitting there. I would like to be able to manage this money and not just have it sitting. Any ideas on how to transfer it somewhere or any other info on this?

its easy, if its for retirment just open a retirement IRA and rollover the funds. most likely you employer will have some paperwrk that need to be filled out so they know where to send the check...I work for Wells Fargo as a Brokerage Associate/Premier banker and if you have 25k or more with the bank you including your investments you get 100 commision free trades per year via Wells Trade...

if you have additional questions: pm me...

sorry for typos i am typing with one hand holding an infant...

My only problem is I dont have 25k to play with. I have banked with Wells Fargo for 12 years, is there any way I can get around the 1k min?

EDIT: I worked there for less than a year and I have about 700 in stocks. I want to move it around and play with it a little. It is money that I never saw so IMO the gamble is worth it.

If you are looking for just stock trades, be sure to go with someone that has the most options. A lot of IRA accounts limit what you can trade in. So that's what I would ask. By the way, I use Wells Fargo to place my stock trades with my self directed IRA. It doesn't have a lot of analysis tools, but I know what I want to trade, and my trades have always gone through when I want them, and usually at a slightly better price than my bid price.
