Does anyone have a good hot sauce recipe? The type of hot sauce/taco sauce/liquid that you find at mexican food restaurants for tacos?

I can't offer a recipe but I can give you another option. Go to a Walmart grocery store and buy a brand called Zaaschila. I prefer their Habanero sauce but they're all pretty good. I'm a life long lover of Mexican hot sauces and salsas and the chile habanero is the tastiest sauce I've ever come across. I used to pay big bucks for this as an export through Amazon but Walmart has it for less than two bucks a bottle. So far it has become the topping of choice for everyone I've recommended it to.

Valencia hot sauce is sold at tons of stores and costs very little. You could also google Rick Bayless hot sauce recipe. Good, authentic stuff.

I use Sriracha on everything, including tacos, but I also want to find a good taco sauce like you can get at Los Favoritos.

Any grocery store in or near South Phoenix should have decent hot sauce.

Seriously guys, try the Habanero Chile sauce from Zaaschila. It's imported from Mexico and it beats every other hot sauce I've tried and I have tried a lot of them. I love it on the usual suspects but it's also great on fries. It turns 5 Guys fries into a real treat.

Will look for it, even though habaneros make me itchy. :)

Dried guajillo chilies, dried arbol chilies (experiment with amounts; arbols are spicy, guajillos are fruity) 1/2 an onion, handful of garlic cloves. Cook all in some boiling water until til everythings soft. Pour off most of the water, save some. Put all in a blender, add a touch of the saved water, puree. Add more water until youre happy wth the consistency, add salt to taste.

This is a traditional Taco stand red salsa, great for chips or for tacos.

Just pulled this out from the archives;

Salsa Roja

Ingredients:

1 lg Spanish Onion
To taste Salt

Directions:
1. Place all in a medium stock pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow to soak until chilies are completely soft. Puree chilies, onion and garlic using a touch of water, until smooth.

No sweat. I LOVE this salsa, but its really traditional. Comes off a bitter to some. If you think so as well, kiss it with a touch of honey. a squeeze of lime.
