Area teams playing mostly nonleague contests on Friday and Saturday had a mix of results.

Baseball​


Saturday

Zane Trace 10, Gallia Academy 0 (five innings):
Gunnar McCullought went 3-of-4 with two runs and four RBIs to lead the Pioneers in the nonleague matchup. Coen Larson went 3-of-4 with a run and two RBIs. Ezra Rippeth went 0-of-4 with one run and an RBI. Landen Jarrell went 1-of-2 with two runs. Josh Young went 2-of-3 with one and an RBI. Young went five innings, giving up four hits and striking out six.

Chillicothe 0, West Jefferson 9: Mason Brown, Vincent Haller, Jack Oyer, TJ Barr and Trent Wade each had a hit in the game. Jack Oyer went four innings, giving up three runs (all earned) with three strikeouts in the loss.

Fairfield 9, Paint Valley 6: Jase Rinehart went 3-of-4 with a run and three RBIs. Preston Fauber went 1-of-3 with two runs. Carson Free went 2-of-4 with two runs. Willy Wheaton went 1-of-4 with a run.

Waverly 2, Meigs 3: The Marauders had a single to score the winning run in walk-off fashion in the nonleague contest. Hunter Hauck was 0-2 with one run. Caleb Cox was 1-of-3 with one run. Braylon Spriggs went 6.2 innings, giving up six hits, three runs and striking out seven.

Friday

Chillicothe 11, McClain 6:
Mason Brown got the win, going four innings and allowing four runs (one earned), and striking out four. He also had four hits, three doubles, two stolen bases and four runs scored. Truit McGlone had three runs and three RBIs. TJ Barr had one hit with three RBIs. Conner Bolen had two hits and one run. Vincent Haller had one hit, two RBIs and one run.

Circleville 9, Unioto 7: Callaway Ratliff was 3-of-4 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs. Keegan Ratliff went 3-of-4 with two RBIs, a run and two doubles. David Long went 1-0f-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Caden Speakman went 1-of-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Eastern 19, Paint Valley 1: Willy Wheaten went 1-of-3 with a double and a run. Carson Free went 1-of-2 with an RBI.

Jackson 13, Zane Trace 2: Landen Jarrell and Lukas Oiler scored the two runs for the Pioneers. Oiler also had an RBI. Gavyn Allen went 2-of-2 with a double.

Worthington Kilbourne 10, Adena 0: The Warriors got no hit in the nonleague game.

Softball​


Friday

Huntington 15, Trimble 5 (five innings):
Allie Baker hit a home run, going 2-of-3 with two runs and six RBIs. Kaci Carroll went 2-of-4 with three runs. Taylor Tisdale went 1-of-2 with two RBIs. Ava Potter went 2-of-2 with four runs. Gracie Slaughter went five innings, giving up eight hits, five runs and striking out two.

Unioto 7, Circleville 6: After trailing 7-0, the Shermans started their comeback with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. They then tacked on four runs to walk it off when McKenna Williams singled to score the final run. Haylee Hull went 2-of-4 with two runs and an RBI. Mackenzie Welch went 2-of-4 with one run and one RBI. Maddie Tuttle went 2-of-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Portsmouth Clay 5, Paint Valley 0: Sophia Stauffer went 2-of-3 with a stolen base.

Saturday

Chillicothe 12, Heath 5:
Alyssa Dudley went 3-of-4 with three runs and three RBIs. Vivian Morgan went 0-of-4 with two runs. Cadie Boltenhouse went 2-of-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Isabella Witte went 2-of-4 with one run and one RBI. Bri Cousins went 2-of-4 with two RBIs. CJ Rittinger went seven innings, giving up seven hits, five runs (two earned) and striking out 14.

Liberty Union 4, Chillicothe 2: CJ Rittinger struck out 10 in the loss, going six innings, giving up eight hits, and four runs. Bri Cousins went 1-of-2 with one run and one RBI

Lynchburg-Clay 7, Zane Trace 1: Maddison Will went 1-of-3 with a run. Reagan Arthurs had the RBI.

Paint Valley 10, Fairfield 9: Kyla Littler drove in three runs as she went 1-of-3 with two runs and a triple. Sophia Stauffer went 4-of-5 with two runs and a triple. Kasarah Cantrell went seven innings, giving up 11 hits, nine earned runs and striking out four.

Boy volleyball​


Chillicothe 3, Westfall 0: The Cavaliers are on an 8-game winning streak after defeating the Mustangs 25-11, 25-8, 25-14. The Cavaliers are in first place in the GCVC South, looking to repeat their conference championship for a second year in a row during the league finals on May 5. Next week the Cavs will play three home games against Patriot Prep (April 21), Bishop Hartley (April 22), and Whetstone (April 24). The Cavaliers are currently 9-1.

Chillicothe 2, Wheelersburg 2: The Cavaliers are 6-3 overall, and still undefeated in the FAC at 4-0. The Cavaliers play their next match on April 21 at home against Logan Elm High School.

  • At No. 1 singles, Noah Flores defeated Daniel Woodring 6-0, 6-0.
  • At No. 2 singles, JB Maravilla lost to Kody Evans 4-6, 2-6.
  • At No. 3 singles, Elijah Yandila defeated Miller McKenzie 6-1, 6-2.
  • At No. 1 doubles, Malachi Upshaw and Benjamin Yandila lost to Logan Evans and Luke Sarver 2-6, 1-6.
  • At No. 2 doubles, Aeden Montalvo and Lyric Grave lost to Avery Lowery and Brady Schomburg 6-3, 2-6, 4-6.
