SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Rams secure a doubleheader tie with a bounce-back performance over UT Dallas.

The Angelo State Rams entered their doubleheader versus UT Dallas on Saturday looking to snap a rare three-game losing streak. The Rams lost the series opener Friday night, in a high-scoring 9-8 thriller. In game one of Saturday’s doubleheader, the Rams never stood a chance. The Comets led 10-0 after three innings and never looked back, winning 16-5. In game two, the Rams bounced back.

Angelo State broke a scoreless contest in the bottom of the third inning via Payton Bush’s fielder’s choice. Bush reached first safely as the Comets first baseman couldn’t field the ball cleanly. Two runs scored on the wild play, giving the Rams a 2-0 lead. The Rams built a 4-0 lead going into the top of the seventh inning before surrendering a two-run home run to UT Dallas’ Nico Fernandez. The Comets late rally fell short however, as the Rams secured their first win of the series.

The series finale begins Sunday, March 15 at Foster Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST.
