The Los Angeles Rams held their first open practice of training camp on Monday, welcoming fans to the stands at Loyola Marymount University. They also welcomed Matthew Stafford back to the field after he skipped the first practice as part of his modified camp schedule.
The Rams' star-studded roster is one of the best in football, and there's a noticeable difference when Stafford is operating the offense compared to Los Angeles' backup quarterbacks. After Stetson Bennett ran with the first-team offense on Sunday, Stafford was back under center as the starter Monday.
Reporters in attendance provided updates throughout practice, highlighting some of the best plays from Monday's session. It sounds like CJ Daniels had a nice day, as did Puka Nacua, with Stafford picking up right where he left off after last year's MVP campaign.
Chase Blackburn said Williams is an option to be the Rams' punt returner, and it seems he's getting reps there in practice.
Stafford is ready to go for his first practice of training camp, making throws to Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
The Rams are fully committed to their multiple-tight end packages, giving Ferguson and Parkinson reps in 12 personnel.
The rookie Daniels is competing for time as the WR3, and it sounds like he's having a good day.
Stafford and Nacua connected on a ball over the middle, with Trent McDuffie attempting to make a diving deflection before Nacua hauled it in with one hand.
After missing the deflection previously, McDuffie broke up a throw to Nacua downfield.
Mumpfield is another player competing to be the Rams' WR3.
