There was a contingent of New Orleans Saints fans hoping that they would swoop in and bring back wide receiver Rashid Shaheed in free agency, but that won't be happening.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news on Monday afternoon that the Seattle Seahawks would be bringing Shaheed back on a three-year deal worth $51 million, with $34.7 million guaranteed. That's a great payday for a receiver with an even better path to it.

The now 27-year-old signed with the Saints after going undrafted out of Weber State. He was originally just going to be a return specialist, but quickly carved out a role for himself as a big play machine on offense.

New Orleans traded Shaheed to the Seahawks at last year's deadline for a fourth and fifth-round pick in 2026. It was a solid return that ended up paying off for Seattle, even if he wasn't a consistent threat in the receiving game. He returned both a punt and kick in the regular season and then returned another in the playoffs. He had a big 51-yard catch in the NFC Championship as well.

Over his four years, he has 153 catches for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air. He has the speed to be a threat in the backfield and five total return scores.
