New Orleans Saints training camp will be here before we know it. Players and coaches are off for the summer to enjoy some time off with their friends and family before returning for work in late July, but soon enough we'll be covering practice every day. And after that, it's the preseason. We already knew that the Saints were planning joint practices with each of their three preseason opponents to get more work in against other teams. On Monday, the NFL announced when and where each of those joint practices will be held. You can find the Saints' full preseason game schedule here.
First, the Saints will host the Jacksonville Jaguars for a practice session on Aug. 13 at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center in Metairie, ahead of their Aug. 15 preseason home game at the Caesars Superdome. These joint practices in New Orleans have been open to the public before but stay tuned for information on attending this summer's workout.
After that, the Saints will fly out the Southern California and attend a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys at their home-away-from-home in Oxnard on Aug. 18. Grandstands at this practice facility often allow space for visiting fans to attend, but we'll see if that's the plan this time. That's ahead of their final preseason game in Dallas at AT&T Stadium on Aug. 28. So this is a little out of sequence because the Cowboys hold training camp in Oxnard each year, but we're about to get back on track.
Just a few days after practicing with the Cowboys, the Saints will meet up with the Los Angeles Rams in L.A. on Aug. 20. The exact location has yet to be determined but last year they practiced together at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, which didn't have room for fans to attend. That was also a short-notice arrangement after the San Francisco 49ers backed out of plans to practice with the Saints in Irvine, Calif. due to a rash of training camp injuries, so maybe they have a difference space in mind. New Orleans will meet up with the Rams again at SoFi Stadium for their second preseason game on Aug. 22 before returning to New Orleans ahead of that preseason finale with the Cowboys.
But put these dates on your calendar in pencil, not pen. Teams can back out of them and reschedule practices with other teams -- look at that example with the 49ers just last summer. Either way, the Saints are going to spend a lot of time on the practice field between August and July. We'll let you know when fans are invited to attend practice as soon as the Saints make that information available.
