The Associated Press ranked Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride as the NFL's top tight end, and let the stats speak for themselves.
Eight AP pro football writers ranked their Top 5 tight ends in the NFL, "basing selections on current status entering the 2026 season." McBride snagged five first-place votes. Only one other tight end (San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle) received any other first-place votes.
The AP's Rob Maaddi did not release why each panelist chose McBride, but did lay down some facts about McBride's status as a player.
Maaddi dubbed McBride "the most productive tight end in the NFL," and cited his 126 receptions in 2025 as the most any tight end has ever recorded in a season. Maaddi also mentioned McBride's 1,239 receiving yards, and that McBride's 566 yards after reception ranked tops among NFL tight ends in the 2025 season. He added that McBride's 11 receiving touchdowns were tied for the most by a tight end in 2025 (only Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert also had 11).
McBride's receiving yard total in 2025 was the most among tight ends. He also led the NFL's tight ends in catches for first downs. This production led the AP to select him as 2025's First-Team All-Pro tight end.
In 2025, McBride collected more than 110 catches and at least 1,146 receiving yards for the second consecutive season. In games with starting quarterbacks not named Josh Dobbs or Clayton Tune, McBride has averaged 7.1 catches for 71.3 receiving yards the past three seasons.
