Heat get good Celtics update on Giannis Antetokounmpo amid Miami rumors originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
For the Miami Heat to get the perfect outcome with Giannis Antetokounmpo, they'll need other teams not to outbid them. If history repeats itself here, the Heat probably aren't going to get Antetokounmpo.
Unfortunately, the organization hasn't proven that it can get the stars when they become available.
All Heat fans are hoping this won't be the case again, but anything is possible in the NBA, and that's just the unfortunate reality the Heat are currently dealing with.
However, if they were worried about the Boston Celtics, it sounds like there isn't too much to worry about just yet. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Celtics don't appear to be on Antetokounmpo's list.
“I have not heard that Boston is on Giannis’s list,” Windhorst told Celtics on CLNS. “I have not heard that Giannis is prepared to sign the extension with Boston.”
“Now let’s have a discussion,” Windhorst said. “But I haven’t heard that. Just because I haven’t heard doesn’t mean it’s not true. But until those two things are true, I don’t think it’s really something that’s in the world of reality.”
Any team that he can eliminate from these sweepstakes should be a good one. Miami has a decent package, though it's unclear what's really available to the Bucks right now.
The Bucks have to worry about what they can get, and the Heat have to hope that they can get Antetokounmpo for a lower price than Milwaukee might be looking for.
