Hailey Van Lith isn't going far.

After the Connecticut Sun waived HVL earlier this week, she's actually remaining with that franchise.

The difference is that Van Lith is signing a developmental contract.

That means she can only suit up for 12 games while on that deal. It's meant for players who are on the fringes of the roster to stay with an organization and improve, akin to a two-way deal in the NBA.

Van Lith had been with the Chicago Sky in the preseason, but they let her go right before the regular season began.

The Sun swooped in, and HVL had played well so far.

In her nine games with the Sun before being waived, Van Lith averaged 8.1 points and 2.2 assists per contest. She shot 49.2% from the field, a fantastic 47.1% from 3-point range and 83.3% from the foul line.

The Sun moved Van Lith off the active roster to activate talented guard Leila Lacan, who just finished up her season in France.

The overall reality here is that HVL will have to continue to prove herself, but it'll help that she maintains familiarity in Connecticut while she tries to do that.
