HARTFORD, CT — Former No. 11 overall pick Hailey Van Lith signed a developmental contract with the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, May 30, the WNBA team confirmed in a press release. Per team policy, details of the contract were not released.
Van Lith, who had signed with Connecticut after being waived by the Chicago Sky, was cut Thursday when the Sun activated guard Leïla Lacan, who was on a suspended contract due to overseas commitments. Lacan, who started Saturday against the Los Angeles Sparks, returned from the French La Boulangère Wonderligue, where she won the 2026 championship with Basket Landes and was named Finals MVP.
Van Lith played nine games with the Sun, starting three. She averaged 8.1 points on 49.2% shooting from the field, 2.2 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 17.6 minutes of play. Van Lith's best outing was against the Las Vegas Aces on May 15. She finished with 17 points on 63.6% shooting and four assists.
The 5-foot-9 guard spent her rookie season with the Chicago Sky. She appeared in 29 games for Chicago, averaging 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. During the Sky's preseason slate this year, Van Lith averaged 12.5 points on 71.4% shooting and had 4.5 assists across two games before being waived.
