The District 11 Class 3A and Class 4A championships are set for Wednesday evening, with three local programs looking to take home the hardware.
In the Class 3A title game, the No.1 Pine Grove Cardinals will face the No. 2 Northern Lehigh Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at Blue Mountain High School.
Later in the evening, in the Class 4A Championship game, two local squads, the No. 2 Blue Mountain Eagles and No. 4 North Schuylkill Spartans.
However, unlike the Class 3A title game, which is win or go-home for Pine Grove, both Blue Mountain and North Schuylkill have both already clinched their spots in the PIAA Playoffs.
Class 3A: Pine Grove (22-2) vs. Northern Lehigh (14-9)
The Pine Grove Area Cardinals will search for their second straight District 11 title on Wednesday when they face Northern Lehigh.
This will be the second straight year that the two programs have met in the District 11 playoffs, with the Cardinals defeating the Bulldogs 10-0 in last year’s District 11 semifinals.
Pine Grove advanced to Wednesday’s title game with a 13-3 win last week in the semifinals over Palisades. After trailing 3-2 early in the game, the Cardinals scored 11 unanswered runs to mercy-rule the Pirates.
The Cardinals have been dominant in the postseason so far this year, outscoring opponents 48-6 and hitting .422 as a team. They’ve totaled 10 home runs in those four games.
Offensively, Pine Grove has been led by Callee Leffler, who has amassed an incredible 15 home runs and 45 RBI while hitting .655. But it has not just been Leffler leading the way, as Hannah Aungst has hit .383 with 29 RBI, and Meadow Umbenhauer has collected five home runs and 27 RBI as well.
As a team, Pine Grove has totaled 27 home runs and 261 runs in 24 games, with a team batting average of .420.
Jamie Dinger is the likely starter for Pine Grove. She’s pitched ot the tune of a 0.51 ERA in 20 games this season, allowing just 16 runs in 95.1 innings.
Northern Lehigh outlasted Salisbury Township 7-6 to clinch their spot in the District 11 title game.
The Bulldogs this season have been led offensively by the trio of Addison Smith, Kylee Snyder, and Kenzie Chrusical. All of which hit well above .350 this season. Smith is expected to be the Bulldogs’ starting pitcher in the championship game.
Class 4A: Blue Mountain (22-2) vs North Schuylkill (21-5)
Blue Mountain and North Schuylkill will meet for the fourth time on Wednesday in the District 11 Class 4A championship game in Pine Grove.
The Eagles have won each of the three previous meetings between the two Schuylkill League powers: a 4-1 win on March 26, a 6-4 win on April 21, and a 10-0 win on May 12.
Over the past five seasons, Blue Mountain has dominated the series, winning 14 of 16 matchups. Both of North Schuylkill’s wins came in the 2025 season.
Blue Mountain clinched its spot in the title game and PIAA playoffs last Friday in dramatic fashion on a walk-off home run by Emmerson Frie over Palmerton.
Frie has emerged over the last several weeks as the most dangerous bat in the Eagles’ offense, now with a team-high six home runs and 37 RBI.
Anna Borden, Avery Hudock, and Aryana Reilly have all amassed over 20 RBI this season to go along with Frie, while nine Eagles in total have driven in at least 10 runs this season.
In the circle will be Emily Leonard, who has posted a 1.19 ERA in 21 games this season, striking out 122 in 118 innings.
North Schuylkill earned its spot with an upset of top-seeded Northwestern Lehigh, snapping the Tigers’ streak of three straight seasons of appearing in the PIAA State semifinals.
The Spartans trailed 3-0 after three but scored 12 runs over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings while totaling 17 hits.
North Schuylkill’s high-powered offense, which is hitting .361 as a team, is led by Gianna Capone and Mallorie Croker.
Capone has a half dozen home runs this season and nearly three dozen RBI, while Croker is nearing the 30 RBI mark herself.
Expect Brigid Flynn in the circle for North Schuylkill; she’s been dominant this season with a sub-200 ERA while closing in on 100 innings pitched.
